Brighton and Hove to lose 5 more Post Offices11.14.06am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 13th Nov 2007
Local Lib Dem campaigner Simon Doyle is fighting to save Post Offices in Brighton and Hove. New Labour is set to close 2500 Post Offices right across Britain.Thousands of post offices have already been closed by Labour AND Conservative Governments. Five more Post Offices in Brighton and Hove are now to close following the latest announcement. That is on top of the Ship Street Post Office, which is already being axed. Local Lib Dem Simon Doyle said, "Our post offices are a vital part of our local community. Many residents rely on the services they provide. These closures must be stopped now." The Labour government has failed local people over Post Offices. Worse still, 10 years after being kicked out of government, the Conservatives still do not have a plan to save the post office. Our post office network will never be safe under Labour or the Conservatives. Simon added, "Under Lib Dem plans, we would invest an extra £2 billion in the post office network and open new branches where needed." "Together we can send Gordon Brown's Labour government that local people do not want to see their local Post Offices closed."
